Honouring Excellence: GCTE Thycaud Celebrates Merit Day with Pride and Purpose
On March 26, 2025, the Government College of Teacher Education, Thycaud, stood adorned with pride and academic glory as it celebrated its Merit Day, a heartfelt tribute to the relentless pursuit of excellence by its students. The ceremony was graced by the esteemed presence of Dr. Sunil John J, Additional Director of the Directorate of Collegiate Education, who inaugurated the event and delivered an inspiring keynote address. With a packed audience of faculty, students, alumni, and guests, the event turned into a vibrant celebration of achievement, dedication, and the promise of future educational leaders.
A key highlight of the celebration was the felicitation of B.Ed toppers from the 2022–2024 batch, who were honored for their academic brilliance and commitment to the teaching profession. As their names were called and medals and certificates were presented, the atmosphere echoed with applause and admiration. These bright young educators were celebrated not just for their scores but for embodying the values of discipline, knowledge, and leadership that the institution upholds. The moment was both emotional and motivating, reminding everyone of the power of hard work and consistent effort.
The event also saw the distribution of awards in arts and sports for the current 2024–2026 batch, recognizing students who had excelled beyond the classroom. From stage performances to athletic prowess, students who brought pride to the college through cultural and sporting achievements were acknowledged for their talents and team spirit. The event reaffirmed GCTE’s commitment to holistic development, encouraging students to strive for greatness in every sphere of life. With cheers, smiles, and moments of reflection, Merit Day 2025 became a landmark celebration — a day that celebrated not only academic merit but the well-rounded excellence that defines the spirit of GCTE Thycaud.
