 Green Steps Forward: A Memorable World Environment Day 2025 Celebration

Govt. College of Teacher Education, Thiruvananthapuram, in collaboration with OISCA International Trivandrum Chapter and the Eco Club, hosted a vibrant and meaningful celebration on June 5, 2025, marking World Environment Day with the global theme #BeatPlasticPollution. The event featured an insightful presentation by Anannya Das on the topic "Beat the Plastic", followed by a creative Poster Making Competition that showcased the environmental awareness and artistic talents of students.


     The highlight of the programme was the inauguration of the Save Green Club, a new eco-initiative aimed at nurturing a culture of sustainability among future educators. The chief guest of the event, Sri. Saju S. Nair, Assistant Conservator of Forest, Social Forestry Wing, Thiruvananthapuram, delivered the Inaugural Address and officially launched the club. His words inspired the gathering to commit to greener actions and actively contribute to environmental preservation through simple yet impactful steps in daily life.

     The function was graced by Dr. A.V. Sujith (Principal, GCTE Tvpm), who delivered the Presidential Address, and Mr. R. Ajayan (President, OISCA International, Trivandrum District Chapter), who gave the Keynote Address. The programme also featured the distribution of saplings by Mr. Bhattacharya, and a heartfelt felicitation segment led by Dr. Anju I and Dr. Rajashree K. The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Arya K Anil (UUC), leaving the participants motivated to be lifelong stewards of nature.
